ZSoil 2023 Release Notes

This document provides the general summary of new features and important notes about the ZSoil® v2023 software product.

What’s New in ZSoil® 2023 v23.56

General

  • Modified Bishop’s effective stress principle is now the default setting for new projects

Analysis

  • Resolved issue when starting analysis with Initial strain and an associated load function which has not continuous number
  • Resolved issue with excavation forces for flow analysis with impermeable thick shell elements

Preprocessing

  • Resolved issue with inconsistent split check during Save model and return to Main Menu
  • Resolved issue with importing tendons with File/Import geometrical model (*.inp)
  • Resolved issue with linking tendons to continuum and shell elements
  • Improved verification for distorted thin shell elements

Initial State Profiling

  • supporting the original formulation of Van Genuchten model (new in ZSoil v23.53) which includes the parameter n that completes the definition of soil water retention curve
  • supporting the new formulation for the Bishop’s parameter (Se – new in ZSoil v23.53)
  • comparative profiling for two formulations available in ZSoil for calculating apparent cohesion: standard (S*p) or corrected effective saturation (Se*p)

  • Resolved issue with freeze of calculation module on divergence with cap model

General

  • Humidity convection element has been added
  • Resolved issue with opening INP file from v20 and older with defined fixed anchor zone interface

Menu

  • Resolved issue with converting INP file to previous version
  • Resolved issue with importing materials from INP for layered shells and beams
  • Resolved issue with wrong list of materials in warning during writing of DAT file
  • Resolved issue with removal of nails on excavation

Preprocessing

  • Page fault when modifying shell thickness when no shell thickness label assigned has been corrected
  • Resolved issue with modifying nodal humidity boundary conditions

What’s New in ZSoil® 2023 v23.02

General

  • New non-local FE formulation for modelling piles and barrettes
  • ZSslope – a new template for slope stability analysis
  • Hydraulic gradient for fluid flow (continuum elements) has been added to the postprocessor results

Preprocessing

  • New color attribute for objects
  • Selection dialog box: comboboxes replaced with a multi selection listbox
  • Extended data verification

Analysis

  • Reduction the overall computation time of a simulation by 10 to 30%, depending on the analyzed problem
  • Added nagata patch treatment in dynamics, displacement control and pushover
  • M & H are optimized internally in the calculation module when M=0 or H=0

Postprocessing

  • Improved MNT diagrams for continuum
  • Selection dialog box: combobox replaced with multi selection listobox
  • Avoiding zero contact stresses when viewing incremental results with a reference time step
  • Corrected crash when displaying envelopes of A-W moments top-min
  • Time history results for elements and nodes has been refactored

Material Database Manager

  • possibility of connecting to a user-created or -selected database file
  • generating a simple PDF report with a list of model parameters only
  • generating a user-configured report for previously edited material from the Material Database Manager level

Automatic/Interactive Parameter Selection

  • upgraded correlations for friction angle in granular soils
  • revised correlations (for further detail see Help/Correlation Database Log)

Parameter Identification

  • batch exporting of defined tests
  • corrections to eliminate stopping the parameter identification algorithm in the case of repeating zeros in raw data of measurements
  • limiting the identified values of Rf to the threshold of 0.99 (instead of 1.00)
  • corrected visualization of the interpretation lines for the couple of variables eps1-eps3
  • automatic detection of docking phase in triaxial test measurements and a toolbox for data trimming
  • improvements in parameter identification algorithm for triaxial tests

Lab Test Simulator

  • corrected sig_vc calculation based on defined qpop value in the HS model for the oedometer test

PDF Rreporting

  • improvements in layout and formatting
  • adding document properties (metadata) in PDF file
